Settings: River Cane Learning Station

The River Cane Learning Station will take advantage of the mature stand of cane traditionally used for Native American food and artifacts. "Sweet" river cane arundinarias are not invasive. The Cherokee Eastern Band is a source of information about uses of river cane as an important part of Cherokee cultural preservation. The River Cane Learning Station will emphasize restoration of arundinarias and is an ideal place for gathering material for demonstrations of traditional basket making and engaging Native American topics. Specific elements of this setting will include:
  • Storage for river cane harvesting and working implements

  • Other related Learning Station elements
